Do you wanna Cannes Cannes? – Cannes Film Festival Report: Top 40 Best Dressed

Dear readers,

After a morning run around one of my favourite parks (Hyde park for the curious minds amongst you) and a homemade green smoothie (a recipe which I have greatly improved and refined since my first attempt!) the first thing that passed through my mind was:

I should write a report on the iconically chic Cannes Film Festival! – (Ok maybe these weren’t the exact words I used..)

And just like that, I found myself browsing through hundreds of photos from several different websites to hunt down my favourite 40 looks from the event. Before jumping straight into my top 40 looks, it is best if I precede these with a brief history on the event, as this will allow you to judge more critically the outfits chosen, and really help you immerse yourself in a Cannes state of mind (one I wouldn’t mind living in!)

Just imagine yourself sipping on some Dom Perignon White Gold Champagne, whilst admiring the most amazing ocean view behind those lightly tinted sun-glasses (a must, due to the summery environment, of course), and you’re ready to go (and by go I evidently mean keep reading!)

The Cannes International Film Festival (or the Festival de Cannes, if you’re feeling très Française) is an annual film festival (founded in 1946) held in Cannes, France, with the purpose of showcasing previews of new films of all genres (yes, this also includes documentaries!) from around the world. But why all the glamour and attention you ask? Well, the Cannes Film Festival runs for 13 days (so many outfits!!) in the esteemed Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, it is the most prestigious film festival in the world,  and as such it operates in an invitation-only manner; making it a highly publicised event. Agreeably, due to the extensive media exposure, this non-public festival is attended by many movie stars and is a popular venue for film producers to launch their new films and attempt to sell their works to the distributors who come from all over the world (a common marketing strategy employed to gain critical and commercial appraisal based on a film’s artistic quality).

We have come to an end of yet another fashionably relevant Cannes Film Festival.

These were my favourite looks, do you share the same favourites, or do you disagree in some? Let me know on the comments section below your opinion and what is your absolute favourite dress! I look forward to our interaction, but until then, I bid you adieu with this:

  1. I am a HUGE fan of black red carpet looks, so it comes as no surprise that Kendall Jenner is my number one best dressed! I also loved Lupita’s look – she is stunning! Great post, I really enjoyed it! I’d love if you could check out some more of my posts? 🙂 Katie xo

  2. Mimi, garrl! Post was great, thanks for sharing 🙂
I too did a round up of the best of Cannes (if you get a mo’, see how our faves compared! http://ow.ly/NCQ34)
But overall, I think model Liya Kebede ran it, but not in the outfit you’ve got at no. 40 – I prefer what she wore for the Mad Max premiere… I swear the dress was inspired by Christmas tree tinsel! Either she or Doutzen Kroes x

  3. First of all, great post! I really enjoyed reading it. 🙂 My fave has to be Emma Stone- from her hair to her dress. I think it complements her body well too. Jo x

  5. I cannot say how much I enjoyed reading this. I hadn’t had the chance to see a lot of these looks, and Diane Kruger and Karlie Kloss are now officially going to be way up on my clothing-watch list as I am OBSESSED with their dresses throughout (esp. #3)!
