I have never introduced myself with more misgiving. On the one hand, it is a truth universally acknowledged that in order to captivate a reader, one must provide authentic, interesting, and easy to relate facts about themselves. On the other hand, wouldn’t you agree that a bit of mystery and secrecy is always more enthralling? In the words of Thomas Moore: “It is only through mystery and madness that the soul is revealed”.
With this in mind, I shall aim to tell you in a few words who I am. I am The Girl In A Cocktail Dress, but some of you might prefer calling me Mimi, which is fine too. I write this sitting in bed, staring outside the window, overlooking the crowded streets of London on a cold Friday evening, contemplating what I should wear for brunch tomorrow. I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination, and following the advice of the eternally graceful Coco Chanel, I try and be two things: classy and fabulous. As you might have already guessed, I am a lover of fashion and cosmetics, and over the years I have learned that fashions fade, but style is eternal. I am also an avid reader of Jane Austen novels, and from those I have learnt that no one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
Alright, now I know that this was longer than ‘a few words’ but, in case you hadn’t noticed, we all have a mental dialogue going on inside our heads that never stops; it just keeps going on. But perhaps for now this introductory paragraph will suffice? I am sure that once you have read my ensuing posts you will have enough pieces of the puzzle to form an educated opinion of who you think The Girl In A Cocktail Dress is.. Until then, I leave you with this:
“Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” – Napoleon Hill
Love,
Mimi ♡
